This Best Homemade Lasagna Recipe is a very tasty first plate that we can prepare in our home for lunch or dinner with our family and friends. This meat lasagna recipe cook with homemade fresh lasagna layers. I’m sure that many times you have prepared this recipe with lasagna layers and sauces that you choose to buy in supermarkets. But when you choose to cook the lasagna dought and layers, bechamel sauce and bolognese sauce by yourself, then this recipe is more special, not only for the great combination of the ingredients but mostly because you put your passion in it. For many of you may seem difficult to cook lasagna, but we will show you step by step how to prepare by yourself a delicious and perfect lasagna in your kitchen.
Ingredients for 8-10 Servings
Ingredients for Lasagna Layers
- 4 medium fresh eggs
- 400 g all-purpose flour
- A little salt
- 2-3 tbsp flour to open the lasagna layers
Ingredients for Lasagna
- Fresh lasagna layers
- Bolognese pasta sauce
- Bechamel sauce
- 300 g ground Grana Padano Cheese
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 small onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 cerely stick
- 1/2 glass of white wine
- Salt, pepper
- 3 ripe tomatoes and 400-500 ml tomato sauce
- Olive oil
For the bolognese sauce, we use a big pan. Add a little oil, chopped onion and ground beef and stir-fry all together for some minutes until the onion tender and the ground beef change the colour. Add the wine and after evaporated the alcohol, add ground tomatoes, salt, pepper, and at the end the tomatoes sauce. We cook the sauce in low heat. You can read all the bolognese sauce recipe Here.
Ingredients for Bechamel Sauce
- 500 ml of milk
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 50 g unsalted butter
- A little salt
We prepare the bechamel sauce in a non-stick pan. Add butter and flour and stir- fry until the flour golden. Add milk and mix in low heat until the liquid thick and made the sauce. You can read the bechamel sauce recipe Here.
How to prepare Lasagna
First, we prepare the dough for the lasagna layers. In a deep bowl add flour, salt and make a crater in the middle adding the eggs one by one. We make the dought moving fast our hands. In the beginning, the dough will be dry and strong, so we need to work the dough to be soft to open it in a layer. This dough is made only with eggs, so to be easier for you, we suggest to not add all the flour quantity at the begin. You can take apart 2-3 tbsp from the flour quantity, and add it in the dough if it will need.
We continue to work the lasagna dough for 20 minutes or how you will see that the dough is getting soft. Let it sit for 30 minutes covered with a pellicle.
During this time, we prepare the other ingredients for the lasagna. We preparing to prepare the bolognese sauce before cooking lasagna. I cook it a day before and keep it in the refrigerator. I only warm it before cooking lasagna. We cook the bechamel sauce and ground the Grana cheese, and continue to open the lasagna layer.
The easiest way to open dough is by using a pasta dough machine. When we don’t have it we use a roller to open it. We use only flour to roll the dough and not corn starch. The final result will be a large and thin lasagna layer. We cut it in pieces in accordance with our lasagna baking dish.
In a large casserole, add water and put it to all, like we do for cooking pasta. Add salt when the starter starts to boil. We prepare another deep and large bowl with salty cold water. We put each piece of lasagna layer in the bowling water and cook it for a few seconds until it to reach the water surface. Transfer it in the cold water immediately and after it, we open the boiled layers in a clean kitchen towel and we are ready for the last step to cook lasagna.
Preheat the oven at 200 degrees.
We use for Lasagna a glass Pyrex baking pan, or a non-stick baking pan.
First, we add to the bottom of the baking pan a little bolognese sauce. Cover all the baking dish surface with a layer and cover it again with bolognese sauce, bechamel sauce, and ground Grana cheese. This will be the way to continue until the end.
The top will finish with bolognese sauce, bechamel sauce, and a large quantity of ground cheese.
We put the lasagna to bake at the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
We put it out if the oven, cover it and let it cool for about 15 minutes. We cut the lasagna in pieces and serve it warm.

Note: We can follow the same step and directions to prepare the fresh lasagna layers and to cook it in a vegan way. You can cook lasagna using the same sauces with dry lasagna layers.
