Turkish Bread Recipe

Turkish Bread Recipe is a Turkish cuisine bread or flatbread, as it otherwise named in international cuisine. It is easy to made and cooks in a few minutes in the pan.

This type of bread cooks in many countries and serves as a daily food in Turkey and many other Eastern countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, etc.

According to tradition and the place where it cooks, so is how it consumes. It usually flavors with fresh herbs such as parsley, mint, and spicy spices such as pepper, chili peppers, etc.

Bread turns out tasty and eats with cheeses or various sauces based on dairy products, one of which can taste best is the Xaxiqi that we also use.

I used fresh parsley to flavor it, but I did not use chili peppers as my three-year-old daughter eat it, so children do not use pepper or spicy spices if you serve it for kids.

In this recipe, the dough prepares with yeast. In many countries like India, it also cooks with baking soda, as we cook our Albanian Pite.

The temperature of baking also requires to be constant to bake it properly.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of flour
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 tbsp of yeast
  • 150 ml of lukewarm milk
  • 150 ml of lukewarm water
  • 3 tbsp of olive oil plus as its needs for baking and brushing the bread after baking
  • fresh ground parsley and chilly peppers flakes as you like

Directions

  1. First, we will sift the flour and mix it with salt and yeast.
  2. Mix the warm milk and warm water, and with this liquid mixture, we will knead the dough. Add the olive oil and work to the extent that the oil absorbs and the dough binds well.

  4. Shape the dough to a ball, coat it with oil on the surface and cover it with a cellophane bag. We set it at a warm temperature or inside the oven with the light on to rise for one hour or until it doubles the volume.

  5. We open the dough in a circle shape by hand. Add a little flour to your work surface. Divide it into six equal parts. Shape each of them into small balls as we do rolling the phyllo dough.

  6. We roll these balls in small circles with a diameter of 10-20 cm. We add a little oil in a non-stick pan, heat it well, and cook each of the bread pieces for 5-6 minutes.

  7. We remove it from the pan and coat it on the surface with olive oil using a kitchen brush. Flavor it with fresh parsley and the spices we want.
