Once that you prepare a sponge cake, you can use it as you like for various cakes and desserts that you can make by yourself in your kitchen. We use this sponge cake for a Zuccotti cake recipe at last Halloween party, easy and simple to prepare it. You can read below step by step in all directions.
Ingredients
- 3-eggs
- 90 g of sugar
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 50 g cocoa
Directions
- The cocoa sponge cake can prepare in the same way as the classic one. The only difference is that we replace a part of the flour with unsweetened cocoa.
- In a deep glass bowl, we add eggs one by one. The eggs must be very fresh and at room temperature. Add the sugar, and with an electric egg beater, we will beat the eggs and sugar for at least 10 minutes until to make a foam and double the volume.
- We sift the flour and cocoa, mix them together, and add gradually and the egg mixture. We mix them carefully bottom-up to keep the egg volume.
- We grease and flourish a cake stencil with diameter 20-22 cm and put in it the sponge cake dought. We bake it for 25 minutes in the preheated oven to 180 degrees Celcius. We do not open the oven door during the baking time to not because we can drop the volume of sponge cake.
