This Easy Rice Pudding Recipe, or Sultjash as we call it in Albania, is a delicious dessert. We grew up with it. Rice pudding can cook in various ways. We can cook it in the oven, in a pan, add dried fruits, or combine milk, cream, or condensed milk.
Today, we want to share our traditional rice pudding recipe. Simple recipes are delicious.
It is a simple and nutritious dessert, which is also much preferred by kids. It is easily prepared and can be consumed for breakfast, as an intermediate meal, or as a dessert after a meal.
For a lower calorie version, you can reduce the amount of sugar and use low-fat vegetable milk.

Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- 1-1.2 l of milk
- 3 tbsp of sugar
- a little salt
- 1 tbsp of cornstarch
- cinnamon (powder and stick)
Directions
- First, we will put the rice to boil with water and a little salt in a pot, using the ratio of 1:2 (one rice and two) water.
- Once it absorbs all water, we will add the milk. Add the milk in parts by mixing it constantly with a wooden spoon. In this way, rice does not stick to the bottom of the pot.
- The whole mass will cook at a low temperature. Cook the rice slowly until it dissolves and makes it creamy. Add a cinnamon stick for flavor.
- We will add the sugar at the end according to the sweetness we want it.
- In the end, add the diluted starch with water or milk. It will thicken the rice pudding better. You can also use rice flour instead of starch. I like the creaminess that starch creates.
- Finally, divide it into portions and dust it with cinnamon powder on top.
- Serve it lukewarm or cold as desired.
Bon Appetit!
