This Easy Homemade Hasude Dessert is a simple Albanian dessert with cornstarch and almond. Furthermore, it is a quick and simple dessert with ingredients we always have at home.
Also, this dessert brings to mind my childhood. I remember my grandmother always making this recipe when there were guests.
So, it remains a recipe that cooked quickly and had it ready to serve in no time.
And, it is an easy and quick variant of the category of traditional starch desserts, without baking like Revani or Qumeshtor, etc.
Ingredients
- 200 g of corn starch
- 250 of sugar
- 500 ml of water
- 60 g of butter
- 40 ml of vegetal oil
- 2-3 tbsp of peeled almonds in slices
Directions
- First, we will caramelize the sugar. In this way, the dessert gets both the taste and the color. So, we will add half of the sugar to the pot to caramelize it until it gets reddish color.
- Once the sugar gets the color we want, we will add some water and oil. At first, the resulting caramel will harden, but then it will melt in a few minutes.
- Meanwhile, add the starch, sugar, and remaining quantity of the water into a bowl and mix them well. So, mix well to dissolve all the starch.
- Then, pour the melted starch mixture into the caramel pot and mix it with a wooden spoon. The mass will start to thicken until it makes a gelatinous mass.
- We will also add the butter and mix it for a few minutes. Hasudja is ready when detached from the spoon.
- Remove from the heat and place in a flat casserole. Add the almonds on top and cut them into a diamond shape. You can also serve it by giving it a spoon-spoon.
Bon Appetit!
