Albanian Pite is traditional cooking, much preferred for the breakfast, and at the same time a lovely cooking for camping, one daily excursion, or vacations. We recommend it as a smart solution when we need to cook breakfast for many persons. One of your breakfast’s recipes is this one. Simple to prepare and with only a few ingredients, but delicious and tasty to consume with various salty cheeses and butter or sweet jams or honey.
Ingredients- 10 Albanian Pite
- 450g all-purpose flour
- 1-egg
- 250 ml of yoghurt or milk
- 8 g baking powder or bicarbonate di soda
- 8 g salt
- 1-teacup of Vegetal oil (corn or sunflower oil) for the fry
Directions
- In a deep glass bowl, add the egg and yoghurt or milk, and mix well.
- Add the salt and gradually and the sifted flour with the baking powder. Work well mixing all the ingredients until creating a soft dough, like the phyllo dough or softer. If the dough can result in a little bit sticky, just add a little flour and don’t worry because we will use a little oil to create the Pite shape.
- Let the dough to rest for 20 minutes, covering with a pellicle.
- Grease your hand with a little oil and separate the dough in 10 pieces.
- Continue, one by one, creating the Pite shape in a circle shape large like your hand’s dimensions.
- In a pan, add the oil to heat. Start to fry the Pite one by one, up to the end.
- Serve your Albanian Pite warm for a delicious breakfast, but they are great to eat during your picnic in the morning or afternoon hours.
