Albanian Halva Recipe

We want to share in this article our Albanian Halva Recipe. It is a simple dessert, which cooks with wheat flour.
It happens to me various times to want to eat something sweet. This one is a quick dessert to cook with a few ingredients.
All we need is some wheat flour, butter, and sugar at home, and we can make this dessert in a few minutes.

In our country, it is a recipe inherited from Turkish cuisine.

Traditions and customs in our country have different uses for halva, but I like to cook it as a daily dessert, and like this, I want to share with you, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of coffee with butter
  • 2 cups of coffee with sugar
  • 3 cups of coffee with flour
  • 4 cups of coffee with water
  • 1 cup of coffee with ground nuts

Directions

  1. First, we will throw water and sugar in a pot and let it boil.
  2. In another pot with a thick bottom, we will throw the butter and flour and mix it well with a wooden spoon.

  3. You can replace the butter with vegetable oil. Or, you can cook it with use half the oil and half butter. We stir to mix the flour until it takes a reddish or a light hazelnut color. It is up to us how dark we want the dessert.

  4. We have to stir it all the time without interruption on low heat. Be careful not to burn the flour because it will turn sour, and the halva will turn out bad.
  5. When the flour reached the desired color, then we will add water and mix it. At this point, you need to be careful not to burn yourself. Move the pot off the fire for a moment and then put it back on.

  6. We need to mix it quickly. You will see that the flour and water will become a mass, which starts to thicken, and halva will form.

  8. Add the grated walnuts, and it is ready to shape. I shaped it with two tablespoons.
  9. Serve it as desired.
