Yogurt Cream Pie

This Yogurt Cream Pie recipe is one of the recent delicious yogurt cake recipes. It is similar to our Custard Pie recipe, and it is also lighter in taste, as the filling cream is prepared with Yogurt and not with milk. Preparation is simple and one of the most enjoyable ways to cook a sweet shortcrust pastry cake. It is a great idea to prepare it for the weekend, or even daily to sweeten your breakfasts or meals.

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 200 g of flour
  • 2 egg yolks (the egg whites will keep for the cream)
  • 75 g of butter
  • 70 g of sugar
  • organic lemon zest
  • 1 tsp of baking powder

For the yogurt cream

  • 2 egg whites
  • 400 g natural white yogurt
  • Vanilla
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 3 tbsp of flour
  • powder sugar for the top

Directions

  1. We will prepare the dough by mixing in a glass or porcelain bowl the egg yolks with the sugar and stir them with an egg wire until it becomes a creamy mass.
  2. We will add the room temperature melted butter, and we will stir it again until the sugar dissolves and the mass binds well.
  3. Add the lemon peel and then the flour, and finally the baking powder. We will prepare a soft dough, which we do not knead hard.

  5. Meanwhile, beat the egg whites with an electric beater meringue, add the natural yogurt, and continue to mix it. We add the sugar, vanilla, and finally the flour.
  6. We mix until a homogeneous cream forms and leave it apart.
  7. We will prepare the baking pan, coating it with butter, and sprinkle it with flour.

  8. We will take ½ of the dough, and with our hands, we will open it in the form of the layer at the bottom of the pan.
  9. We will add the yogurt cream and level it well.

  10. We will grind the rest of the dough with a grater on the top of the pie.

  11. We will bake the cake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
