Ingredients
- 2 kg of oranges
- 1 kg of sugar
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice
- one cinnamon stick
Directions
- To begin with, we will wash the fruits carefully, and for two of them, we will take only the part of the skin without the white part. We cut the orange peel into thin strands.
- Meanwhile, peel the oranges from the skin and cut them into small pieces. Also, during the cutting, we have to remove the seeds as much as we can.
- Once we have them ready, we put the sliced oranges and sugar together in a bowl or pot and let them rest for a few hours.
- After that, we put the jam to simmer on medium heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Add the cinnamon stick for flavor, which we remove at the end.
- In the meantime, we will remove the bitterness from the previously prepared skins. We will fill a pot with water, and after it boils, we put the orange peels to boil for 3 minutes.
- Then, we will drain the blistered skins and repeat the same process another time. So, boil them in clean water for another three minutes.
- Also, add the well-drained orange peels to the jam. They will give taste and delight to this orange jam. I guarantee it turns out delicious.
- I remind you that we will add the orange peels from the middle of the jam cooking process. By the end, the orange jam will turn out liquid. So, you do the test by tossing a little on a cold plate to see its clotting. In the end, add a tablespoon of lemon juice.
Canning
- So, we will throw the hot jam in sterilized jars using new lids and close them well. Then, turn the jars upside down and leave them to cool completely.
- Store the jam in a cool, dry place. Once you open one of the jars, store them in the refrigerator for several days.
With this jam, you can accompany your breakfasts, various cakes, biscuits, and many other uses. Also, you can add it to your yogurt with cereal in the morning.
Bon Appetit!
