This Okra And Beef Stew Recipe is a dish with Bamia Okra and meat cooked in a pressure cooker. Furthermore, it is a traditional dish of Albanian cuisine, which we can cook in any season if we have frozen okra.
This recipe tastes best in the summer and autumn seasons when we find fresh Bamia okra in the market. Also, even with canned or frozen okra preserved from our hands, it turns out super delicious.
Moreover, Bamia Okra remains one of the vegetables with high nutritional values. And, in this season of the year when we should eat as healthy as possible, it remains one of the recipes that we should have on our menu.

Ingredients
- 500 g of fresh or frozen Bamia Okra
- 400-500 g beef
- one onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 red bell pepper
- 2-3 small tomatoes
- fresh parsley
- salt, pepper, olive oil
Directions
- As a start, for this recipe, I prefer to cook the meat before. So, in this season, I use frozen Bamia Okra, and its cooking time is shorter than beef. In this way, it is helpful to boil the meat first.
- Next, we will continue to prepare all the vegetables by cleaning and cutting them into cubes.
- If we are going to cook fresh okra, we clean them from the stalks and put them in water with salt and vinegar. If we have them from freezing, we have performed this procedure before preserving them. Also, before putting them in the freezer, it is good to give it short baking in the oven. So, it retains its shape during cooking.
- Also, continue with the other vegetables, peeling the onion and cutting into cubes finely.
- Also, peel the carrot and cut it into cubes. We clean the pepper from the seeds and cut it into cubes. Peel tomatoes, clean them from their seeds and dice them.
- In the pressure cooker, add 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil, the onion with the meat into pieces, and cook for a few minutes until the onion softens.
- Add the carrot and pepper and continue to cook.
- Also, add the tomato, a little salt, and pepper and cook until the tomato cook for a few minutes.
- In the end, we will add the Bamia, which we have given light baking in the oven, salt, and pepper, and cover them all with water.
- We will put the lid on the pot and cook them on medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes. The dish should result in less juice and okra should retain its shape.
- Finally, serve the dish warm, seasoned with fresh parsley, salt, pepper if needed.
Bon Appetit!
