Minced Beef And Onion Pie Recipe is a tasty dish, which we like in our family. This Albanian recipe is cooked in years from Albanian women, who’s the burek cooking and phyllo dought is one of the best in their culinary dishes, creating continue tasty recipes for the burek fillings, and one of them it is this one.
Ingredients
For the phyllo dough
- 500 gall-purpose flour
- 250 ml of water
- Salt
For the filling
- 400-500g minced beef
- 2 medium onions
- 2-3 medium ripe tomatoes
- 3-4 tbsp olive oil
- Salt, pepper
- 100ml of vegetable oil for the phyllo dough layers
Directions
- Dice the onion finely. In a deep pan add the olive oil and diced onions and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes in medium heat until the onion is tender.
- Add the minced beef and stir fry together for 3-5 minutes until the beef change colour. During this time, peel tomatoes using warm water and dice them finely. You can also use a grater to grate the tomatoes without skin.
Add salt and pepper and after that the diced tomatoes. - Let the mixture to cook in low heat until the onion is tender and the tomatoes melt completely. We recommend to cook it using a lid. In this way, you will prepare the filling faster. If it is necessary to, you can add a little water. Season with salt and pepper and the filling is ready.
- Start to prepare the phyllo dough. In a deep bowl add the sifted flour, salt, 1-2 tbsp olive oil, and make the dough adding the water little by little, until to create a soft dough. Work the dough for some minutes and cover it with a kitchen towel and let sit for about 20 minutes.
- Separate the dough to the equal parts, and start to roll the phyllo layers. You can follow all the direction from our phyllo dough recipe.
- When your phyllo layers are ready, take a baking tin to lay our phyllo dough layers.
- Grease a baking tin with a little oil and start to lay one by one the layers, adding a little oil through them. Add the filling in the middle and cover it with other layers.
- Preheat the oven at 200 degrees.
Put the baking tin to the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, until the pie golden brown. - Cover with an aluminium paper and let it to sit for a while. Cut it in pieces and serve it warm.
