We know that jams cook most in summer and fall, where we can find many seasonal fresh fruits. Even in the winter season, we can prepare tasty jam with seasonal fruits. We will bring today a Mandarin Orange Jam Recipe.
It is a quick and easy one and full of flavor to enjoy in our breakfasts or to use for the preparation of various crusts and cakes.
We must always use ripe, sweet fruits and not treated with chemicals to cook a quality jam. In this recipe, I used mandarins grown in my home garden.
Mandarin orange is one of the citrus fruits full of aroma and rich in Vitamin C values.
It provides 32% of the daily values for this vitamin. It is 85% water, 13% carbohydrate, and a negligible portion of fats and proteins.

Ingredients
- 1 kg of fresh organic mandarin oranges
- 750 g of sugar
- 250 ml of water
- ½ lemon (juice)
Directions
- We wash the mandarins and clean them from the skins.
- We will cut the mandarins transversely to separate the natural pieces of the fruit.
- For a part of the skins, we cut the best ones into thin strips, and we will use them to flavor our jam.
- In an open, shallow saucepan, melt the sugar with the water until it makes a syrup.
- Boil the skins in a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes so that they lose their bitterness. Remove and place in cold water. We will repeat this process two times.
- In the syrup, we will add the chopped mandarins and the skins drained from the water.
Mix it and cook the jam on low heat for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. You will see for yourself how thick you want your mandarin jam.
In the end, we add lemon juice. - We throw the jam in clean glass jars, as it is hot, and close them.
urn them upside down until completely cooled. If you want, you can sterilize the filled jars, boiling in water for 20 minutes. Store the jam in a dry and cool place.
Bon Appetit!
