Kadaifi is a dessert that we usually cook for the holidays and is never missing on our tables during this time of year when the holiday, Christmas, and New Year holiday atmosphere is even more present. Kadaif can cook in several ways, accompanied by nuts, pistachios, coconut, etc., but today we want to share with you the traditional Kadaif Recipe of preparing Kadaif with nuts. A delicious dessert, which tastes best after a family meal.
Ingredients
- 500 g of Kadaif
- 250 g of nuts
- 200 g of butter
For sugar base syrup (Sherbet)
- 1 kg of sugar
- 750 ml of water
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice
- Lemon zest
Directions
- For this dessert, I choose fresh Kadaif, and we will wrap it in rolls stuffed with nuts.
We must carefully take the Kadaif by following the direction of the thread to prepare our Kadaif roles. We take a piece from the bunch of Kadaif and add the grated walnuts. We grind the walnuts in a kitchen shredder or chop them finely with a knife.
- We wrap it in rolls and place it in the baking pan, which we greased with a little butter.
We will continue in this way until to do all Kadaif rolls. - We will melt the butter and let it cool a bit and add it to the Kadaif, spreading it well on the surface of each Kadaif roll. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Bake the Kadaif at 180 degrees for 45 minutes. Be careful not to blush too much on the surface. It should get a nice reddish color. Remove from the oven and let cool.
- In the meantime, we will prepare the sugar base syrup. In a saucepan pour the sugar and water and mix until dissolved. Let it boil for 2 minutes and add lemon peel inside for flavor. There is no need to overcook the syrup. Just follow our directions and the right amounts of the ingredients.
- The Kadaif should be cold or lukewarm when we add the hot syrup. Before adding the syrup, we let it a few minutes to rest, to not be too boiling.
Add the syrup over the Kadaif to soak it with a diaper covering all baking pan surface. We cover it with plastic paper and let it sit all night. Serve it as desired after a meal, or as a dessert for holidays, birthdays, banquets, etc.
Bon Appetit!
Note: If you do not want to prepare it only with butter, you can also mix it with a little vegetable oil, corn, or sunflower, using 150 g butter and 50 ml oil.
