Ingredients for Zuccotto Cake
- one cocoa sponge cake
- 500-600 g Custard Cream
- 250 g strawberries, or other fruits that you prefer
- 500-550 g cheese cream
For the Custard Cream
- 500 ml of milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 4 tbsp of sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Lemon zest
For the Cheese Cream
- 250 gram Philadelphia Cheese
- 250 g whipping sweet cream
- 4 tbsp powder sugar
- Food coloring

- We prepare the pastry cream in a classic way. You can find the full recipe here.
- Secondly, we prepare the cream cheese by mixing the cheese with the powdered sugar and the whipping cream, which we whip it separately with an electric beater. Mix all carefully and add food coloring. You can even not use it and leave it white. If you have powder dye, I recommend you melt it a little with cream separately and mix it with the cream. When we have the gel, add it directly to the cream cheese and mix until the color you want comes out. Pour the cream into a pastry bag, and we are ready to decorate it.
- We start to made our cake shape. We take a bowl and cover it with a transparent bag.
- We cut the sponge cake into thin slices and cover the shape of our dessert.
- Pour half of the custard cream and add the strawberries cut into pieces. Put back some slices of sponge cake to create a middle layer and add the remaining custard cream and strawberries.
- We close the cake with other sponge cake slices, and cover it with a plastic bag, and put it in the refrigerator overnight or at least for 4-5 hours if you do not have time.
- Take it out of the fridge and return it to a plate. Remove the bag and garnish as desired with the cream cheese. Very tasty and liked by everyone.
