This Green Pea Stew is the traditional cooking with which we grew up. Peas are a vegetable of the Spring and Summer season, which we can cook in a variety of recipes, such as salads, soups, pasta, risotto, puree, etc.
Today, we have brought this recipe cooked with peas and beef meat. You can cook it in the same way even without meat for a vegetarian recipe.
We can cook it with tender beef as the part of the fillet that requires a shorter cooking time to cook with the vegetables.
You can choose another piece of meat if you prefer otherwise. In this case, it is best to cook the meat first, then combine it with the vegetables and finish cooking with them.
Ingredients
- 400 g fresh or frozen green peas
- 200 g of the beef pulp of fillet
- 2 green onions
- 1 carrot
- 1 potato
- 1 or 2 ripe tomatoes
- salt, black pepper, olive oil
- fresh dill and parsley
Directions
- First, clean fresh peas from their pods. We wash and cut the carrots and potatoes into small cubes. Finely chop the onions.
- In a deep pan, add the olive oil and finely chopped onion.
- In medium heat, stir fry the onion until it tenders. Add the beef fillet in pieces.
- We will stir them until the onion softens and becomes transparent and the meat changes color. We chose to boil the meat separately in a pressure cooker first. In this way, we avoid overcooking the vegetables.
- Continue cooking by adding the diced carrot and stir fry all together. Add the fresh peas and after a few minutes, add the diced potato.
- Once our vegetable shredded, we will add the minced tomato to the grater, without the skin.
- Once we see that most of the tomato water evaporates, we will add the water to cover all the vegetables and meat. In our case, we chose to boil the meat separately, first. At this point, we add cooked meat and beef broth in place of water.
- We enjoy our soup with salt and pepper. Cover the pot with a lid and let it cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.
- We will see to it that the peas are soft. Our soup or dish will result in liquid, but the liquid should be somewhat thickened.
- In the end, we will add fresh dill and parsley, olive oil and serve it warm.
Bon Appetit!
