Fresh Peach Jam Recipe is tasty to consume during our breakfast meals, and it also is a delicate ingredient to prepare delicious cakes, tarts, and cookies. Although the summer has gone, we can still find delicious fresh peach fruits in the market and to conserve and consume them for the rest of the year. Peach scent and sweetness make this fruit lovely to eat, even as processed food.
The peach is a kind fruit that prefers to eat at every age, including young babies. In our country, the peach grows in some varieties, and we can find fresh peach fruits from May to October. The peach is a fruit tree, part of the rose family, which firstly is cultivated and domesticated in China. The second important place of its cultivation in Persia, and from there, it brought to Europe and transplanted in other counties around the world.
The peach is a fruit that contains mainly water, carbohydrates, and proteins. It contains vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A, C, B6, Beta carotene, calcium, etc., but all these are in modest daily values for our organism.
Peach contains phenols, which play an important antioxidant role for our organism. These phenols are more present in the peach skin, and for that reason, it is better to eat it.
The peach fruit can eat as fresh fruit or processed in various recipes.
For its delicacy, scent, softness, and sweetness, we can enjoy the fresh fruit in juices, smoothies, puree, etc. There is a lot of preservation form of the peach fruit like jams, confitures, dry fruit, liqueurs, etc. The dry fruit can also use to make jams or cooking recipes. But, we want to stop today to the fresh peach jam recipe.
You can use any peach variety that you prefer to make this peach jam. I used country peach or wild peach as we cold it. It has a similar taste with bitter almond. You can follow the below directions to make the jam, despite the variety of the peach fruit that you will choose.
Ingredients
- 1 kg of cleaned peaches (peach pulp)
- 350 g of sugar
- 1- lemon ( zest and juice)
- jars to preserve the jam. Have a look here for the Best Jam Jars to find all you need to preserve in the right way the homemade jams.

Directions
- First, we will clean the peaches from their core and skin. To remove the peach skin easily, we put them in a deep pot with boiled water, as we do with tomatoes. We let them sit for a while in the boiled water, and you will see that the skin can take away in a few minutes.
We cut them in pieces or slices and put them in a pan. - Add the lemon juice and lemon zest and let to boil for a few minutes in medium heat until to start to liquify.
- Add the sugar and continue to cook the peach jam in low-medium heat, mixing time after time until it gets thick properly.
If you want to avoid skin cleaning as we explain, you can use another way to make it. You can cut peaches with the skin, put them in a pan, add lemon juice and a little sugar, and let to boil for a few minutes. Let them cool and put them in a vegetable mill to eliminate the skin. Put the peach puree in a pan, add the rest of sugar and cook until it gets thick. You can add pelargonium leaves in place of lemon juice.
I decide to keep the peach skin in the jam because I found organic peaches. So after I boiled it, I let it cool and blended all. I prefer to consume it as a confiture. Also, if you use nectarine peaches, you can keep their skin. - We put the jam in the heat, to cook for a while if it needed, and boiled we put immediately in the sterilized jars.
- We close the jars well. We boil them for 15-20 minutes in a deep pot, covering with water, and after that, we put them cool upside down. In this way, the lid will close in the right way. We can check the lid closure, pressing it with our fingers, and if it moves, then we need to repeat the process. We keep the jars in a dry and cool place. When we open it, the lid will make a click, and this is the right way of the closure. We keep it in the refrigerator after opening it.
Bon Appetit!
