This Phyllo Cake or Paçavure Dessert is a delicious traditional Albanian dessert that cooks with baklava phyllo layers.
Do you remember the extra noodles from Rolled Kataifi With Phyllo Dough? Exactly, with those few phyllo noodles, we will prepare this other very tasty recipe to enjoy in the family.
I prepared a small casserole that was enough for ten servings. If you want to make a large casserole, you can double the following doses.
The recipe is simple. You can cook it quickly, even for a weekend lunch with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 5-6 petë baklava phyllo layers
- 3 eggs
- 100 ml of yogurt
- 100 g of butter or oil
- 70 g of sugar
- 3 tbsp of flour
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- a little salt
- 50 g of nuts
- 1 tsp of powder cinnamon
For syrup
- 500 g sugar
- 350 ml of water
- 1 cinnamon stick
Directions
- We will cook as follow this traditional dessert. As a start, we will take the very thick baklava noodles. We place them in the baking pan coated with butter filling the entire surface of the pan.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for 3-4 minutes until the phyllo noodles are slightly dry.
- In a glass bowl, we will mix the other ingredients by beating them well. First, we beat the eggs and sugar. Then add the oil or melted butter at room temperature.
- Continue with yogurt, cinnamon, and sifted flour. Finally, we will add the baking powder.
- We will throw this mass above the dried phyllo layers in the baking pan. Add the grated walnuts on top.
- We will bake the phyllo cake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes. We check it with a toothpick. The toothpick must be dry.
- Meanwhile, we will cook the cake syrup by mixing the water, sugar, and one cinnamon stick.
- Leave the syrup to boil and turn it off. We will throw it on the baked dessert, cooled, and cut it into slices. The syrup must add to it cold. Let it soak up the syrup and serve the cake cold.
