Homemade Limoncello Recipe

Limoncello is a liqueur that we can prepare simply at home. All we need is some fresh organic lemons and food alcohol.

I prefer most the liqueurs prepared at home, cause they are healthier as we choose the products used in the recipes. Liqueurs are good digestive aids after a heavy meal.

We will use fresh, organic, and untreated with chemicals lemons. We clean and rinse the lemons well before starting with the recipe, eliminating small black dots and dirty on their surface.

  • 10 fresh, organic with thick zest lemons
  • 1l of food alcohol
  • 1l of water
  •  750 g of sugar

  4. We will close the glass container well. We keep it like this for ten days away from sunlight and a dry place. We have to shake the container from time to time. In this way, the lemon zest pieces will release their aroma, color, and essence in the alcohol.

  6. In a saucepan, we will add water and sugar. We put it on the fire until the sugar melts and the syrup boils. Let it cool completely.

  8. Drain the mixture once with a fine colander, and put it into washed, dried, and sterilized glass bottles.

  9. We seal the bottles hermetically and leave them for a few days before tasting.
    It is good to put the bottle in the freezer before tasting it and serving it. After lunch, one glass of lemonade will taste great and will also help with digestion.
